Rudder is not working
Check that your rudder is working:
- Touch the rudder with your finger and make sure that it moves freely and with no physical jam. If it is stuck remove the rudder and verify that the area is clear of dirt and plastic residue.
- Verify that when you tilt the phone the horizon in the app also moves (this shows that your smartphone's gyro is functioning).
- Android phones - In an old version of the app, after a crash the rudder may stop responding, make sure to use the latest version.
- Verify that the rudder has a magnet inside (small round shiny metal piece).
Rudder Stuck to one side
It's normal for the rudder to stick to one side when the POWERUP is in rest mode (POWERUP is off / POWERUP is on but not connected to the app).
Rudder is rattling
When connected to the app, the rudder is receiving an electric current and might have a rattling motion, this is normal.
*When airborne, the airflow puts pressure on the rudder, and the rudder's motion will be more subtle.
Rudder jumps from one side to the other - difficult to center
When trimming the electrical rudder with the app, the rudder might jump from side to side in large steps, and skip over the center position. The trimming must be done with the motor on. The propeller creates an airflow that puts pressure on the rudder, and the rudder's motion will be more subtle. Always trim with the motor on.
How to trim the electric rudder
To center the electric rudder before a flight:
Connect the POWERUP to the app> hold the phone leveled > double tap to unlock > push the throttle to 60% > while the motor is spinning, use the R+L trim buttons to center the rudder > when the rudder is aligned with the motor, release the throttle > settings will be saved.
During a flight you can fine tune with the same buttons, if the airplane is not turning to the right > add R and vice versa.
Repeat this process with every new POWERUP module.
