Both the PowerUp kits (PowerUp 3.0 and Free Flight) are great educational tools.
The obvious subject to teach is, of course, Aerodynamics. From basic topics, such as lift, and drag, to flight maneuvers and phenomena, such as roll and stall. Your lesson plans can be easily demonstrated and experienced with the PowerUp Free Flight kit, all at a low and affordable cost. This is perfect for students ages 10 to 16.
For more advanced and older students, use the PowerUp 3.0. The PowerUP 3.0 comes equipped with remote control capabilities and it allows you to go deeper into advance aerodynamics with your lesson planning. The challenges and the rewards are higher! This product is best suited for students between 14 to 20.
Moving forward with your lesson planning we offer a course that emphasis the design aspect of paper airplanes. These lessons will help your students to understand the connection between the performances of a specific airplane design (say the Nakamura) and its structure. With this better understanding, guide your students to design their own paper airplanes.
You can use our kits to apply a research process. For example, you can use one of these research questions:
- What is the connection between the Center of Gravity to the stability of the airplane?
- What is the connection between the air plane`s weight and its maneuverability?
To answer such a question, the student must learn some basic aerodynamics, evaluate the connection between the parameters, plan and conduct an experiment to unravel this connection.
Our process of achieving a successful flight, with both kits, by itself, is a wonderful research tool. To be a successful pilot your students must observe, identify, understand and rectify their control surfaces, as well as their actions. Step by step, they develop a method, and learn to understand the connection between one step to the next.
