Flight of the Fairy Tern
AnsweredMy interest is in solid models using the Power Up 4.0 module. I designed and built a model I call the Fairy Tern using basswood, which weighs more but takes more of a beating than balsa. It's a simple design with a minimalist fuselage -- just enough to hang wings and a tail on. The total weight is about 17g. The wings are 9" long, 2" wide at the root and tapering to 1" wide at the tip. It flies like a dream even in gusty winds, and holds up really well to crashes. It flies so well I have come close to losing it several times. The following video is a compilation of a couple of flights because I'm a lousy pilot. https://tinyurl.com/Fairy-Tern
