Powerup 4.0 Flight Timer

How does the Flight Timer know to start?  For me, it usually does not start when I launch my plane.  Sometimes it starts while in flight, sometimes just as the plane lands. Most times, it does not start - a real bummer when I just had a super-long flight.  It'd be nice if every flight were timed, but i cannot find out to do this.  Any suggestions?

  I have the same experience! It depends per day what the timer does. Also, it sometimes stops counting mid air, especially when I have released throttle completely. Really weird, since the acceleration meter and gyroscope should know that there is lots of speed and change of direction at that time!

  Here is what I found on this.  If I "fake" launch by moving my hand forward with the plane quickly and then stopping the forward motion with the plane still in my hand, and do that a couple times, the phone eventually says "Launched", and then I launch for real, and the timer is running until I land.
