Saga of my EZ Streak
AnsweredI live in Fairbanks Alaska and when I got my Powerup4.0 I had to use it in spite of the weather. I did find that battery life (and finger life) is VERY reduced at temperatures below 0F. But flying in snow has it's fun moments, witness the mark left by a Hammerhead going straight down into snow (and no harm done!)
But this can make finding a white foam plane difficult to say the least - my EZ Streak got blown into the woods in November (it takes time to learn which way to turn a circling plane!), and in spite of several expeditions on snowshoes, no luck. But come snow melt in April I found it lying in the woods, completely unharmed, and the module about 4 feet away. Charged it up and it works great.
Today the EZ Streak survived a goat encounter (don't ask), and after repairs was going great until it got caught in a big thermal/updraft and I got the "flight completed" message. I'm guessing it was more an "out of range!" As it was circling out of my control I was running hoping to get under it enough to reconnect, but no luck. It came down somewhere in a stand of spruce, of course out of sight. I was so glad to have the "find my plane" feature on the app (where was it in November!) - it led me right to the plane.
I'm sure the saga will continue.

Ken - these are some incredible stories. Thank you for sharing with us. Be sure to operate in a clear open space, away from trees etc. If the plane does fly out of the range (240 feet) the app will disconnect and the plane would glide down to the grassy surface (or snowy in your case) :-)

Have you tried to work with any color to improve design visibility?
We'd love to see photos!

Ha, I had a similar story. While demonstrating my children how high the Onslaught can fly, I ran into 2 problems: high up there was more wind than expected, plus I couldn't see anymore what direction the plane was flying. So I lost control due to flying out of reach. It landed in a grain field. Luckily I could instruct my daughter to keep an eye on the crash zone, while I had to bike around to get into that field. Cobmined with the 'find my plane' and my daugthers instructions, I was able to find the plane back. I only discovered it when I was within 'social distance', 5-6 ft :-)
